Krista Ingebretson

Krista is looking for fiction and non-fiction that has a real point of view--books that make a reader take on a new perspective or are relevant to today's conversation. This includes literary fiction, especially debut novels, and the occasional upmarket commercial project--books like UNBECOMING by Rebecca Scherm, THE LONGINGS OF JENDE JONGA by Imbolo Mbue, and Rachel Kushner's THE FLAMETHROWERS, which she saw edited, sold, and published at the Susan Golomb Agency. Krista is open to books set in the US or abroad, occurring now or in he past, experimentally structured or not, so long as a strong narrative develops and there are vivid characters on the page. On the nonfiction side, Krista is interested in primarily narrative projects in the genres of history (particularly cultural history), current affairs, sociology, pop culture, biography, food writing, travel, economics, science, health, and memoir, though she will consider nearly any well-written trade non-fiction that reveals an untold story. After working with award-winning and best-selling authors for eight years at the Susan Golomb and Anne Edelstein Agencies (including Jonathan Franzen, Rachel Kushner, Tom Rachner, and Russell Shorto), Krista just opened an agency of her own.  A graduate of Brown University, Krista studied comparative literature. She grew up in Portland, Oregon and now lives and works in Brooklyn.
